My two USB ports were in use and I was thinking of another way to plug in my USB flash drive (my USB hub has not functioned since I accidentally melted one of the connectors and tripped a breaker in my apartment about a month ago). I naively imagined a FireWire flash drive, to take advantage of the other ports on my Mac, but I didn’t actually know such a thing existed. Apparently, though, it does. And from the reviews I’ve read, it actually performs worse than the average USB drive.
I think I just need to go out and buy a new USB hub because between my printer, my mouse, my iPod, my flash drive, and my digital camera, there are not enough ports to go around.
Eventually we won’t need to plug anything in. Every peripheral will be Bluetooth or 802.11n enabled. I could be using a Bluetooth mouse and printer already, but I guess I’m not as technologically savvy as I once thought.
